Howard Wolper has added three cashes to his record during this Summer Poker Open and now stands at 114. Today is his last chance to add to that number for the series and he’s on the felt, grinding away, trying to make that happen. Three cashes in one series is an accomplishment for any player, but Howard makes it look easy.

Deepest Stack players are on their first break of the day, but before the break, a big hand took place in the back of the room.

2018 Borgata Fall Poker Open Tournament Schedule And Information

Frank Reina had pocket Queens against Matt Levy’s pocket Jacks, and would have been on the rail “if he had been a more aggressive player”. Frank would have put his whole stack in pre-flop, but Matt only flatted his 3-bet.

“The Ace [on the board] saved me,” added Frank, as an Ace on the board made his Queens less appealing. Somehow Frank managed to not go broke after Matt flopped a set and rivered quad Jacks.

As of the break, Frank’s still got about 30,000. Matt’s up to ~47,000.

Mike McGuinness is a Borgata regular and tournament grinder that we’ve seen off and on throughout this series. Unfortunately he’s yet to get on the scoreboard during the Summer Open.

Most of his success at Borgata has come in the DeepStacks Challenge events and other non-Open series. He’s got seven Borgata wins, but has yet to claim a Borgata Open trophy.

Today is his last chance to rectify that this summer. After today, he’ll have to wait until the Borgata Poker Open, which is schedule for September 4-21.

One face we haven’t seen much of recently is Guy Cicconi. Orginally from Pennsylvania, he retired and moved to Las Vegas a few yers back. Now we only see him when he travels east for special occasions.

He won the Winter Poker Open Seniors event in January of 2016, good for more than $14,000. He’s made a few more appearances since then, making the final table of the Seniors event of the 2016 Fall Poker Open and cashing in the 2017 Winter Poker Open Kick-Off.

Last year this event drew an incredible 428 entrants and created a prize pool of $83,032. At around 4:30am, the final five players decided to call it a night and each took an equal share of the remaining prize pool: $10,337. A final hand was run to determine who got the trophy and the “win” and that went to Edwin Buskirk.

2017 Final Five: (Left to Right) Justin Diesel, Spiros Panacopoulos, Mike Piro, Greg Schneider, Edwin Buskirk (Seated)

Korotki claimed his record ninth Borgata title and more than $359,000.
